Gryphon hockey men blanked by Brock Badgers
ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons were handed a 3-0 setback by the Brock Badgers in their final OUA men’s hockey preseason match, Brock’s annual Steel Blade Classic, Friday night at the Meridian Centre.
Brock scored a single goal in the first period and added two more in the third, the second one of the period into an empty net with 45 seconds to go.

Ryan Stepien scored the first goal for Brock while Jared Marino had the other two goals. Jacob Roach and Rylan Thiessen each had an assist.
Unusual for the game, penalties were limited to one for each team — offsetting roughing penalties midway through the first period.
The Gryphs outshot the Badgers 18-14.
Colton Incze was in net for the Gryphs while Connor Ungar tended goal for Brock.
The Gryphs are to open their regular season tonight (Sept. 23) against the Nipissing Lakers at North Bay’s Memorial Gardens. Game time is 7 p.m.
