Gryphon hockey men leave RMC Paladins behind

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons connected for at least three goals in each period as they skated to a 10-4 victory over the RMC Paladins in OUA men’s hockey play Friday night at the Gryphon Centre.

The Gryphs led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 7-1 after the second.

A total of 16 Gryphons collected at least one point in the game.

Luke Kutkevicius had a hat trick for the Gryphs while Jonah De Simone scored a pair of goals. Getting one goal apiece were Nolan DeGurse, Isaac Enright, Nolan Forster, Jacob Winterton and Jaxon Camp. DeGurse had three assists while Nathan Allensen, Giordano Biondi, Griffin Wilson and Duncan Penman each had two. Single assists went to Kutkevicius, Liam Ham, Tristan De Jong, De Simone, Anthony Tabak, Ian Ferguson, Ethan Doyle and Camp.

Christopher Paquette tallied twice for RMC while Austin Saint and Mitchell Larabie added single goals. Wade Bolton, Dell Welton, Nathan Fox, Ethan Kearney, Joel Holtrop, Josh Spratt and Ryan Smith each had one assist.

The Gryphon power play was almost unstoppable as they went 5-for-6 with a manpower advantage. RMC went 1-for-3.

The Gryphs outshot the Paladins 35-34 as Brendan Cregan had 30 saves for Guelph. Michael Davis and Joe Ingram-Chambers each played about half the game for RMC and each allowed five goals. Davis had 15 saves and Ingram-Chambers had 10.

The result leaves the Gryphs at 2-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and RMC at 0-1-1-1.

The Gryphs are to host the Queen’s Gaels (4-0-0-1) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre in their fourth consecutive home game.
