Gryphon men also sweep by RMC Paladins again

KINGSTON – The Guelph Gryphons men’s team repeated the Gryphon women’s team’s feat by sweeping the RMC Paladins for the second time in less than 24 hours in the second game of Saturday’s OUA volleyball doubleheader at RMC’s SAM Gymnasium.

The Gryphons took the match 3-0, winning the sets by 25-10, 25-20, 25-21 scores, for their 18th consecutive victory over the Paladins since the 2009 season.

Noah Marshall Romero had seven kills, an ace, two blocks and two digs for the Gryphs while Liam Kinahan had seven kills and an ace, Jacob Bailey had four kills and five blocks, Cameron Chadwick had six kills, an ace, two assists and four digs, Alexander Odle had an ace, three blocks and two digs, Nathan Peters had four kills and an ace, Thomas Pugsley had two blocks and 14 assists, Joshua Glasbergen had two blocks, Jack Richards had 14 assists and Daniel Pickett had three digs.

Cameron Moar had eight kills and three digs for the Paladins while Alex Tessier had two blocks, Andrew Gallant had 17 assists and Zachary Tessier had three digs.

The Gryphs had 38 kills, five aces, 12 blocks, 32 assists, 13 digs and a .392 kill percentage while RMC had 23 kills, no aces, four blocks, 19 assists, 15 digs and a .145 kill percentage.

Guelph leads the OUA at 11-2 while RMC is at 0-12.

The 10th-ranked Gryphs are to host the Toronto Varsity Blues, eighth at 6-4, Friday at 8 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre in the first of three consecutive home matches as they’re also to host the ninth-ranked Windsor Lancers, tied for fifth at 7-3, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.
