Gryphon men sweep TMU Bold aside

GUELPH – Guelph Gryphons got back to winning Friday as they swept the Toronto Metropolitan Bold 3-0 in OUA men’s volleyball play at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.

The win came after a pair of 3-1 losses to the Queen’s Gaels at Kingston last weekend.

Friday, the Gryphs won 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

Blake Brand and Jonathan Pickett each had 10 kills for the Gryphs while Alexander Ogle had nine and Joshua Glasbergen had eight. Brand also had three aces while Jonathan Pickett also had two aces and five digs. Glasbergen had four blocks while Daniel Pickett had six digs and Thomas Pugsley had 37 assists and four digs.

Kai Higuchi had 12 kills and four digs for TMU, Day Westell had four blocks and Taylor Wenzel had 27 assists.

The Gryphs had 48 kills, seven aces, six blocks, 44 assists, 21 digs and a .487 kill percentage while the Bold had 33 kills, three aces, six blocks, 29 assists, 13 digs and a .310 kill percentage.
