Gryphon soccer women edged by Western Mustangs
LONDON – The Guelph Gryphons were nipped 1-0 by the Western Mustangs in their OUA women’s soccer league season opener Monday at Western’s Mustangs Field Monday.
The lone goal came in the second half, a tick over a minute shy of the game’s one-hour mark.

Western’s Angelica Galluzzo netted the game’s lone goal while Samantha St. Croix had the clean sheet in net.
It was the third consecutive loss to Western and all were decided by a single goal as the Gryphs were also edged 2-1 at home last season and 1-0 at London in October of 2021.
Monday, Western outshot the Gryphs 15-6 on shots taken – 10-5 in the scoreless first half – and 7-2 on shots on goal.
The Mustangs also took eight of the game’s nine corner kicks while the teams were each called for four fouls.
The two teams are to meet again Sunday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Game time is 1 p.m.
