Gryphon softball women drop two to Western

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons were swept by the Western Mustangs in their Ontario University Softball home-opener doubleheader Friday night on the University of Guelph campus.

Western took the first game 6-0 before recording an 11-1 win in the second match.

The losses square Guelph’s record at 3-3-0 while Western remains unbeaten atop the West Division standings at 6-0-0.

The Mustangs are followed by the Windsor Lancers at 5-1-0, Laurier Golden Hawks at 4-2-0, the Gryphs and Waterloo Warriors both at 3-3-0, Brock Badgers at 2-2-0 and McMaster Marauders at 1-5-0.

The Gryphs are to play another home doubleheader today (Sept. 16) as they’re to host Windsor. First game is to start at 2 p.m.
