Gryphon softball women split doubleheader with Ottawa

OTTAWA – The Guelph Gryphons made it a successful season-opening road trip Saturday when they split an Ontario University Softball doubleheader with the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Carp Fairgrounds.

Combined with a doubleheader sweep of the Carleton Ravens Friday night, the Gryphs have three wins on the season – one more than they managed the entire 2022 season.

Both of Saturday’s games were decided by a single run as the Gryphs took the opener 5-4, but were edged 11-10 in the nightcap.

Game details are not available.

The Gryphs are to host a pair of doubleheaders at the main University of Guelph softball diamond next weekend. They’re to host the Western Mustangs Friday starting at 7 p.m. and the Windsor Lancers Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

Western swept a doubleheader with the Queen’s Gaels Saturday and are to play the York Lions in a doubleheader today (Sept. 10) at Brampton.

Windsor took two from York in Brampton Saturday and are to play Queen’s in a doubleheader today (Sept. 10) at Napanee.
