Gryphon softball women win and drop weekend doubleheaders

HAMILTON – The Guelph Gryphons swept one doubleheader and were swept in another one in Ontario Universities Softball play on the weekend.

Saturday, the Gryphs defeated the McMaster Marauders 6-5 and 6-4 at Mohawk Sports Park.

That twinbill win followed 5-4 and 9-5 losses to the Brock Badgers Friday at Lancaster Park in St. Catharines.

Western Mustangs lead the West Division at 12-0 while Brock is second at 10-4. They’re followed by the Windsor Lancers at 8-4, Laurier Golden Hawks at 8-6, Waterloo Warriors at 6-8, the Gryphs at 5-7 and McMaster at 1-13.

The Gryphs are to host Waterloo in as doubleheader at the main softball diamond on the University of Guelph campus Friday starting at 7 p.m.

They’re also to play Laurier at Budd Park in Kitchener Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
