Gryphon volleyball men defeated by Brock in preseason
GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons were handed a 3-1 setback by the Brock Badgers in OUA men’s volleyball preseason play Sunday at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
The Gryphs lost 25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22.

Cameron Chadwick had 13 kills, a block and four digs for the Gryphs while Jacob Schweyer had 10 kills and an ace. Blake Brand had five kills, three blocks and five digs. Thomas Pugsley had an ace and 13 assists while Jack Richards had an ace and 17 assists and Daniel Pickett had two assists and 10 digs.
Devin Cooney had 10 kills, Grant Reddon and Kylar Code each had three aces, Liam Strong had two blocks, Reddon had 35 assists and Code had seven digs.
The Gryphs had 37 kills, three aces, seven blocks, 33 assists and 30 digs in the match while Brock had 43 kills, 10 aces, five blocks, 37 assists and 33 digs.
The loss leaves Guelph’s preseason record at four wins and three losses. They have two preseason games left as they’re to play the Badgers at Brock Saturday at 3 p.m. and the Western Mustangs at the GGAC Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
