Gryphon volleyball women sweep pair from Trent

PETERBOROUGH – The Guelph Gryphons recorded a pair of 3-0 sweeps of the Trent Excalibur in OUA women’s volleyball play as they won both Friday and Saturday nights at the Trent Athletics Centre.

The Gryphs won 25-12, 25-14, 25-17 Friday and 25-19, 25-18, 25-7 Saturday.

For the two games, Briar Crerar had 16 kills, six assists, seven aces, three blocks and six digs for the Gryphs while Hailey Holland had 17 kills, three assists, an ace, five blocks and nine digs, Samantha Ingleton had eight kills, three assists, two aces and four blocks, Sophia Kalbfleisch had eight kills, three aces, three blocks and nine digs, Alexa Shields had 46 assists, five aces and 21 digs, Mia Miskovic had 10 kills, an ace and four blocks, Payton King had seven digs, Nikina Bear-Lowen had three blocks, Sarah McNames had two aces and Leah Stewart had an ace.

For Trent, Natalie Fournier had 10 kills, three assists, a block and six digs while Sydney MacLellan had six kills, three assists, an ace and six digs, Elizabeth Turner had six kills, two aces and two blocks, Isabelle Pellerine had 30 assists, four aces and eight digs, Kathryn Beresford had 11 kills, an ace and eight digs and Ashley Chartier had a block.

The Gryphs had a total of 69 kills, 22 aces, 14 blocks, 68 assists and 68 digs while the Excalibur had 38 kills, eight aces, two blocks, 38 assists and 41 digs.

Guelph has won all four matches it has played this season while Trent has lost all four of its matches.

The Gryphs are to play the York Lions (1-4) at York’s Tait McKenzie Centre Friday at 6 p.m. in their lone match of the week.
