Gryphon women score dominating win over Brock

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons claimed their seventh consecutive victory as they dominated the Brock Badgers for a 5-0 victory in OUA women’s hockey play Thursday at the Gryphon Centre.

The fifth-ranked Gryphs outshot the Badgers 33-9.

Martina Fedel stopped each Brock shot for her fourth shutout of the season.

The Gryphs scored twice in the first period and added two more goals in the second.

Katherine Heard led the Gryphs with a pair of goals while single goals were added by Tori Verbeek, Tiana Faccio and Meaghan Chittick. Hannah Tait assisted on three of the goals while Maya Graham had two assists. Single assists were recorded by Jaime Magoffin, Vanessa Bueti, Jessica Kouleas and Reese Coffey.

Kenzie Harmison had 15 saves in the first 28:20 for the Badgers while Ava Cruikshank had 13 saves the rest of the way.

The Gryphs went 2-for-4 on their power play while Brock was scoreless on three power plays.

Guelph leads the West Division at 13-2-2-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) while Brock is sixth at 6-0-3-8.

The Gryphs are to host the Toronto Metropolitan Bold (sixth in East Division at 3-0-2-12) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
