Gryphon women swept out of OUA quarter-finals

HAMILTON – The Guelph Gryphons were ousted from the OUA women’s volleyball quarter-finals by the McMaster Marauders Saturday at McMaster’s Burridge Gymnasium.

McMaster won 25-6, 25-13, 25-17.

Hailey Holland had four kills, two aces, a block and five digs for the Gryphs while Alex Shields had two aces, seven digs and 10 assists. Briar Crerar had four kills and seven digs, while Leah Stewart had three kills, an ace and a block and Mia Miskovic had two aces.

Olivia Julien had 12 kills for McMaster while Sullie Sundara had five aces and eight digs, Jenna Woock had two blocks, Lauryn Colpitts had 26 assists and Ellie Hatashita and Hayley Brookes each had eight digs.

The Gryphs had 12 kills, seven aces, two blocks, 12 assists. 29 digs and a -0.37 kill percentage while McMaster had 36 kills, 15 aces, four blocks, 33 assists, 48 digs and a .346 kill percentage.

The Gryphs were ranked sixth in the quarter-finals and McMaster was ranked third.

The Gryphs finish their season with a 12-9 record in OUA regular season and playoff play and 16-13 overall. They were road warriors with an 11-6 mark away from the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
