Guelph Regals fade in third in loss to Hamilton

The Guelph Regals surrendered the final five goals of the game as they were defeated 14-10 by the Hamilton Bengals in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Thursday at Hamilton’s Rosedale Arena.

The teams were tied 4-4 at the end of the first period and Hamilton led 9-8 at the end of the second. The Regals shot ahead with a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the third, but couldn’t net a goal after that. However, the Bengals scored five times including four in a span of four minutes and 25 seconds.

Dylan Davey, Brett Vince, Sam Savery and Dallon Evans each scored twice for Guelph while Dylan Goddard and Ben Morton added single goals. Goddard had three assists while Savery had two and Davey, Tyler Beecraft, Max Morgan and Evans had one apiece.

Curtis Ward had four goals and three assists for Hamilton while Liam Luzza had three goals and two assists. Quinn Riggs tallied twice while single goals were added by Brendan Keogh, Justin Hill, Cody Inness, Dawson Battersby and Bodhi Gillies. Keogh and Battersby each had four assists while Gillies had two and Alex Long, Hill, Nathan Jones, Riggs, Inness, Walker Zabransky and Greg Love had one apiece.

Shots on goal were not recorded.

Connor Waller was in net for the Regals while Hamilton had Trystan Williams in net.

The Regals scored four power-play goals in the match while Hamilton had one. The Bengals were whistled for 14 minutes in penalties while the Regals were called for eight.
