Guelph Regals fall to St. Catharines Athletics

The Guelph Regals yielded the final two goals of the game as they were handed an 11-8 setback by the undefeated St. Catharines Athletics in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Friday at the Victoria Road arena.

St. Catharines led 3-2 at the end of the first period and 9-6 after the second.

The Regals never led after going up 2-1 with a power-play goal at 11:45 of the first period.

Brett Vince and Sam Savery each scored a hat trick for Guelph while Dylan Goddard and Darcy Rybinski added single goals. Rybinski had four assists while Dylan Davey and Ben Morton had three apiece, Goddard had two and Eli Blakeley and Graeme Crowder had one each.

Carter Accursi and Nate Watson had three goals apiece for St. Catharines while Trent Mooradian had two and Jack Parker, Landon Jaeckle and Cody MacNeil picked up one apiece.

The Athletics outshot the Regals 60-41 and had two power-play goals while the Regals had two power-play goals and a shorthanded marker.

Connor Waller had 49 saves for Guelph.
