Guelph Regals latest team to fall to unbeaten Six Nations

HAGERSVILLE – The Guelph Regals were held scoreless in the first period as they were handed an 11-6 setback by the Six Nations Rebels in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Friday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

Six Nations led 3-0 at the end of the first period and 7-4 with four minutes to go in the second before scoring three in a row including two 21 seconds apart in the final 30 seconds of the second.

Marcus Keleher had a pair of goals for the Regals while Dylan Davey, Parker Lock, Trent Gilbert and Marcus Visentin had single goals. Kyle Beecraft, Visentin and Owen Orpana each had an assist.

Anahilis Doxtator had a hat trick for Six Nations while Connley Joe Squire, Macay Jimerson and Damon Doxtator struck for two goals apiece. Damonie Thomas and Kaylem Whales Racette added single goals while Winter Rivera had four assists. Squire, Hodo Martin, Rakawineh Elijah and Damon Doxtator had two assists apiece while Anahilis Doxtator, Thomas, Trace Hill, Raymond Cortes, Cole Powless and Jimerson each had one.

Shots on net were not recorded.

The Regals went 1-for-5 on their power play and Six Nations went 1-for-4.

Ty Fox-Trudel was in net for Guelph while Immani Mitten was in goal for Six Nations.

The Regals drop to 12-6-0, fourth in the Western Conference. Six Nations remain undefeated and lead the conference at 17-0-0. They’re followed by the Elora Mohawks (14-3-0, St. Catharines Athletics (12-2-1), the Regals, Windsor Clippers (11-5-0), Hamilton Bengals (9-7-1), Cambridge Highlanders (8-8-0), Owen Sound North Stars (6-9-0), London Blue Devils and Wallaceburg Red Devils (both at 3-12-0), Welland Generals (1-16-0) and Point Edward Pacers (0-16-0).

The Regals have two games left on their regular-season schedule. They’re to play the North Stars at Owen Sound Thursday at 8 p.m. and host St. Catharines June 19 at the Victoria Road arena at 8 p.m.
