Guelph Regals snap slump with win over Welland

The Guelph Regals put the brakes on their four-game skid with an 11-2 victory over the Welland Generals in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Thursday at the Welland Arena.

Five goals were scored in the opening period, all by the Regals, and the Guelph side stretched its lead to 8-1 by the end of the second.

Eli Blakeley had a hat trick for the locals while Chase Forsythe and Darcy Rybinski scored twice apiece. Single goals were netted by Finn Morgan, Dylan Davey, Nate Stocco and Zachary Wright. Sam Savery collected three assists while Mason Walton had two and Ryder Simpson, Blakeley, Marcus Visentin, Ben Morton, Stocco and Max Morgan each had one.

Evan Williams and Liam Legault scored for Welland.

The Regals outshot Welland 50-33.

Connor Waller had 31 saves for Guelph and John Buck had 39 for Welland.

All goals in the game were even-strength markers.
