Guelph Silvercreeks hand Cambridge Cubs setback
The Guelph Silvercreeks struck for five runs in the fifth inning in an 8-5 win over the Cambridge Cubs Sunday at Cambridge’s Dickson Park.
The Creeks had 10 hits in the game and committed two errors while Cambridge had nine hits and three errors.
Brendan Boys and Jackson Heimbecker each went 2-for-4, Boys driving in a run and stealing a base. Ryan Cutten went 2-for-5, scored two runs, knocked in a run and stole a base. Zach Martens went 1-for-2, scored a run and was walked twice while Noah Cantwell also had an RBI and was walked twice.
Logan Miziolek picked up the win as he limited Cambridge to a single earned run and three hits. He had seven strikeouts. Jacob Morgan and Ryan Lieng each had three strikeouts. Morgan gave up two earned runs off five hits in 2 2/3 innings while Lieng yielded one earned run off one hit in 2 1/3 innings.
The Creeks are to host the Waterloo Tigers Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hastings Stadium.
