Guelph Silvercreeks tie one on with Waterloo Tigers
The Guelph Silvercreeks and Waterloo Tigers battled to an 8-8 standoff Wednesday night at Hastings Stadium.
The teams had 10 hits apiece while the Creeks committed two errors and Waterloo committed three.
The Creeks fell behind early and rallied to tie the score by the end of the sixth inning. The teams scored a run apiece in the seventh before the eighth and ninth innings were scoreless.
Waterloo led 7-0 midway through the fifth inning, but the hosts scored three times in the bottom of the fifth and knotted it with four runs in the sixth.
Ryan Cutten drove in four runs as he hit a triple and a single while Jackson Heimbecker and Brendan Boys also had two hits apiece. Boys score two runs while Chase Christian had a hit and scored three runs. Caleb McArthur had a hit and an RBI.
On the mound, Ryan Lieng gave up an earned run off three hits in an inning while Sam MacMillan yielded an earned run off three hits in two innings. Waterloo didn’t get a hit or an earned run in Evan O’Driscoll’s stint of 1 2/3 innings while Kaylum Cargill yielded an earned run off three hits in an inning. McMillan had two strikeouts while Lieng and O’Driscoll had one apiece.
The Creeks are to host the Cambridge Cubs Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hastings Stadium.
