Guelph Storm edged in OT by Owen Sound

GUELPH – The Guelph Storm surrendered a goal just over a minute and a half in overtime as they were edged 3-2 by the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.

Servac Petrovsky scored the winner for Owen Sound on a wrist shot from high in the slot.

After a scoreless first period that saw the teams combine for a total of 10 shots on net, the teams scored a goal apiece in the second period and another goal apiece in the third.

Braeden Bowman and Gavin Grundner had the goals for the Storm while Max Namestnikov, Michael Buchinger, Adam Shillinglaw and Rowan Topp each had one assist.

Ethan Burroughs and James Petrovski scored in regulation time for Owen Sound while assists went to Servac Petrovsky and Deni Goure.

The Storm outshot the Attack 36-33, but were scoreless on two power plays while Owen Sound went 1-for-2 on its power play.

Brayden Gillespie had 30 saves for the Storm while Carter George had 34 for the Attack.

Kitchener Rangers lead the Western Conference at 22-7-1-0 while the Soo Greyhounds are second at 19-8-2-0, London Knights third at 17-10-0-1 and the Storm fourth at 16-10-1-1. Owen Sound is sixth at 14-11-2-0.

The game was the first of a three-in-three weekend for the Storm as they’re to tangle with the Erie Otters (12-11-4-0) at the Erie Insurance Arena Saturday at 7 p.m. and host the Kitchener Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
