Guelph Storm fall to Spirit in Saginaw

SAGINAW – The Guelph Storm were held to 19 shots as they were downed 5-2 by the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday at the Dow Event Center

The Spirit had 23 shots in the first period alone as they outshot the Storm 37-19.

Despite a 23-7 advantage of shots in the opening period, Saginaw led 2-1 at the end of the frame. Both teams added a goal in the second period before the Spirit secured the win with two goals in the third.

Jake Karabela and Braeden Bowman each had a power-play goal for the Storm while assists went to Michael Buchinger, Bowman, Jett Luchanko and Max Namestnikov.

Zayne Parekh had two goals for Saginaw while the others were scored by Owen Beck, Rodwin Dionico and Hunter Haight. Beck also had two assists while Sebastien Gervais, Jorian Donovan, Michael Misa, Josh Bloom and Parekh had one apiece.

The Storm went 2-for-8 on their power play while Saginaw went 3-for-6.

Brayden Gillespie had 32 saves for the Storm and Nolan Lalonde had 17 for Saginaw.
