Guelph Storm skates to victory over Ottawa 67’s

GUELPH – The Guelph Storm yielded the opening goal of the game before they struck for six consecutive goals for a 6-1 victory over the Ottawa 67’s in Ontario Hockey League play Sunday at the Sleeman Centre.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period before the Storm scored three times in the second period and twice in the third.

Chandler Romeo, Michael Buchinger, Leo Serlin, Charlie Paquette, Max Namestnikov and Vilmer Alriksson had a goal apiece for the Storm. Jett Luchanko had two assists while single assists were awarded to Braeden Bowman, Wil McFadden, Alriksson, Justin DeZoete, Jake Karabela, Buchinger, Rylan Singh and Brayden Hislop.

Brady Stonehouse scored a power-play goal for Ottawa while assists on the goal went to Cooper Foster and Gavin Ewles.

The Storm outshot Ottawa 32-31 thanks to a 17-5 advantage in the third period for the hosts. The Storm went 3-for-6 on their power play while the 67’s were 1-for-3.

Brayden Gillespie had 30 saves for Guelph while Ottawa’s Collin MacKenzie had 26 saves.

The result leaves the Storm at 8-4-0-0 and Ottawa at 6-4-1-0.

The Storm are to play the Brantford Bulldogs at the Brantford Civic Centre Wednesday at 7 p.m.
