Guelph United knocked out of L1O Men’s Premier playoffs

VAUGHAN – Guelph United’s League1 Ontario Men’s Premier soccer season came to an end Wednesday night when they were blanked 2-0 by Vaughan Azzurri in quarter-final playoff action at North Maple Regional Park.

Azzurri’s goals came in the first half with the first one in the third minute and the second one in stoppage time.

Soji Olatoye connected for the opening goal for Azzurri while Ryan Robinson scored the other one.

Christian Calabro collected the clean sheet for the hosts.

United was the sixth seed in the six-team playoffs while Azzurri was the third seed.

In Wednesday’s other quarter-final, fourth seed Blue Devils FC of Oakville downed fifth seed Burlington SC 4-1.

Blue Devils are to play top seed Scrosoppi FC of Milton in one semifinal match while second seed Simcoe County Rovers FC are to host Azzurri in the other one.
