Guelph United L2 women defeated in season opener

Guelph United opened its League1 Ontario League 2 women’s play with a 3-1 loss to Rush Canada Academy Wednesday at the Gryphons Soccer Complex.

Rush Canada scored twice in the first half and extended its lead in the second half before Laura Gemin tallied for the locals in the 81^st minute.

Della Weir (18^th minute), Julia Silva (31^st) and second-half substitute Ava Ticconi (73^rd) scored for Rush Canada.

United is slated to play Burlington SC next Wednesday at 9:15 p.m. at the Gryphons Soccer Complex in Burlington’s season opener.
