Guelph United Premier Men nipped by Alliance United

Guelph United was held scoreless until second-half stoppage time as they were edged 2-1 by Alliance United in League1 Ontario Men’s Premier soccer play Sunday at the Centennial Bowl.

Markus Pusztahegyi scored for United four minutes into stoppage time.

Alliance opened the scoring on a goal by Pablo Perez nine minutes into the match while Atchuthan Sivananthan added the other goal 12 minutes into the second half.

Tristan Mitchell was in net for the locals.

United is seventh in the 12-team league’s standings at 2-5-0 (W-L-T) while Alliance is fifth at 4-1-1.

United is to play the Woodbridge Strikers (third at 4-0-3) Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Vaughan Grove Field.
