Guelph United Premier Women edged by North Toronto

Guelph United yielded a goal eight minutes into a League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer league match they lost 3-2 to the North Toronto Nitros Sunday at the Centennial Bowl.

United never led in the match, but also never trailed by more than a goal.

Guelph’s goals were scored by Victoria Hinchliffe in the 21st minute and Olivia Rizakos in the 49th minute.

Jade Kovacevic in the eighth minute, Elise Bell in the 42nd minute and Emma Warren with the winner in the 61st minute collected the goals for North Toronto.

The result leaves United at 2-4-2 (W-L-T), good for eighth in the 10-team league. North Toronto is second at 5-1-1.

Next up for United is an L1 Cup match Wednesday against FC London, fifth in Women’s Premier at 3-3-2, at London’s Tricar Field. Game time is 9 p.m.

United is to play the Woodbridge Strikers (4-0-3) Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Vaughan Grove Field.
