Hespeler Shamrocks grab shutout win in Game 4

TAVISTOCK – Lucas Hillert stopped all shots fired his way as the Hespeler Shamrocks shut out the Tavistock Braves 5-0 in Provincial Junior Hockey League playoff action Wednesday at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre.

The win gives Hespeler a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Doherty Division quarter-final series.

The Shamrocks scored three times in the first 11 minutes of the game before adding one goal in the second and their other goal in the third.

Liam Nelson had two goals and two assists for the Shamrocks while Jack Restauri also scored twice. Michael Boyle-Ricupero had the other goal while single assists were awarded to Kaiden Gignac, Alex Spencer, Braeden Tyler, Riley Panagapka and Derek Taylor.

Tavistock outshot the Shamrocks 45-28. Hespeler went 1-for-4 on its power play while the Braves had two power plays.

Hillert had 45 saves for Hespeler while James Hopper had 23 for Tavistock.

The teams are to gather in Tavistock again Friday for Game 5 while Game 6, if it’s needed, is to be played Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
