Home sweet home as Hespeler posts another victory

CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks remained unbeaten in PJHL play on home ice as they dropped the Paris Titans 8-1 Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

It was Hespeler’s third win in as many home outings this season.

The Shamrocks led 3-0 at the end of the first period and 6-0 after the second.

Andrew Harris fired home a pair of goals for Hespeler while single goals were netted by Gavin Logher, Braeden Tyler, Liam Nelson, Riley Panagapka, Mathew Styka and Jack Restauri. Boden White assisted on three of the goals while Tyler and Kwang Sheng-Luu each had two assists. Single assists were awarded to Alex Spencer, Ryan Fraser, Mitchell Smilsky, Justin George and Daniel Tremblay.

Aiden Leblanc scored early in the third period for Paris. Jacob Wilkinson set up the goal.

The Shamrocks outshot the Titans 53-49 and went 2-for-7 on their power play while Paris was scoreless on seven power plays.

David Hanley had 48 saves for Fergus. Nick Barker started in net for Paris, but was replaced by Ryan Burroughs midway through the second period. Barker was back in net for the third. Barker finished with 26 saves while Burroughs had 19.

Hespeler improves to 3-2-0-0 with the win. Woodstock Navy Vets lead the Doherty Division at 6-0-0-0 while the New Hamburg Firebirds are second at 4-2-0-0. The Shamrocks are third at 3-2-0-0 and they’re followed by the Wellesley Applejacks at 2-2-0-0, Tavistock Braves at 2-4-0-0, Norwich Merchants at 1-3-1-0 and Paris at 1-5-0-0.

The Shamrocks are to play the Wellesley Applejacks at the St. Clements arena Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and host New Hamburg Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
