
Junior Gryphons U18 AA girls suit up in special jerseys
GUELPH — The Guelph Junior Gryphons U18 AA girls’ hockey team donned their special third jerseys for a Tribute game Saturday night at the Sleeman Centre.
The jerseys featured a Desert CadPat pattern, a poppy and honours a veteran or event with a family connection to the player wearing the jersey.
A jersey was also presented to hockey commentator Ron MacLean a few days before the game and he displayed the jersey on Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.
The Junior Gryphs suffered a 3-2 loss to the St. Catharines Brock Junior Badgers in the game. They were also edged 1-0 by the Badgers Sunday in Thorold.
The locals are 1-6-0-0 in league play and are to play the Niagara Rapids in Niagara Falls Sunday at 5:45 p.m.
