Late rally by Fergus Thistles falls a goal short

OHSWEKEN – A comeback attempt by the Fergus Thistles fell a goal short as they were edged 14-13 by the Six Nations Stealth in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Sunday at the Gaylord Powless Arena.

The Thistles scored four of the final six goals of the game including the final two, but were edged by a goal.

Six Nations led 5-2 after the first period, 8-7 after the second and 12-9 with eight minutes to play.

Rory Peters and Carter Coffey had three goals apiece for the Thistles while Tye Sanderson and Evan McDougall added two goals apiece. Single goals were scored by Aiden McDougall, Logan Joyes and Cooper Flett. Aiden McDougall had nine assists while Sanderson and Evan McDougall had four each. Spencer Aitchison had three while Brodie Rice and Peters each had one.

Dalen Burning had four goals and six assists for Six Nations while Cal Anderson and Brian Laforme each had two goals and three assists, Nolan McNeil had two goals and two assists, Tylan Hill and Teegan Henry each had a goal and three assists, Damon Decaire and Kevin Henhawk each had a goal and an assist and Layten Myers, Brad Green and Trey Miller each had an assist.

Shots on net were not recorded.

Ethan Bratton was in net for Fergus and Calen Hill was in goal for Six Nations.

The result leaves the Thistles at 3-7-0 and Six Nations at 8-2-0.
