Minto 81’s double Seaforth to grab 3-0 lead in series

PALMERSTON – The Minto 81’s grabbed a stranglehold lead in their Ontario Elite Hockey League quarter-final series with a 6-3 win over the Seaforth Centenaires Saturday at the Palmerston and District Community Centre Complex.

The 81’s rallied from a two-goal deficit to win, scoring three unanswered goals in the third period.

Seaforth scored the lone goal of the first period and the teams were tied 3-3 after the second.

Klayton Hoelscher had two goals for Minto while Cole Pellett, Riley Cribbin, Kyle Heintzner and Blair Butchart scored a goal apiece. Blake Nichol and Adam Kawalec each had two assists while Robert Grant and Butchart had one assist apiece.

Jarrett Bogdon tallied twice for Seaforth while Drew Gross had the other goal. Assists went to Zach Otto, Jamie Huber, Sam Dupuis, Braydon Blight and Carter Collinson.

Shots on net were not recorded and Minto went 1-for-2 on their power play goal while the Centenaires were scoreless on three power plays.

Mark Williams was in net for Minto and Alex Hutcheson was in net for Seaforth.

The win gives Minto a 3-0 lead in the series. Game 4 is set for Sunday at Seaforth at 3:30 p.m. and Game 5, if it’s needed, is to go Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Palmerston.
