Minto 81’s edged by Seaforth as series extended again

PALMERSTON – The Seaforth Centenaires remained alive in their best-of-seven Ontario Elite Hockey League quarter-final playoff series with the Minto 81’s by posting a 4-3 Family Day Monday at the Palmerston and District Community Centre Complex.

Minto leads the series 3-2.

After a scoreless first period Seaforth grabbed a 3-2 lead by the end of the second. The 81’s never led in the game.

Caleb Warren and Blake Nichol each had a goal and an assist for Minto while Blair Butchart also had an assist.

Jarrett Bogdon, Kyle Stanbury, Jamie Huber and Mike Siddall had a goal apiece for Seaforth. Single assists were awarded to Blake Pickering, Carter Collinson, Sheldon Pryce, Brady Wiffen and Drew Gross.

The 81’s outshot Seaforth 20-5 in the third period and 33-25 overall. Daniel Dekoening had 21 saves for Minto and Tyler Parr had 30 for the Centenaires.

Sixth game of the series is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Seaforth.

If Game 7 is needed, it’s to be played Feb. 28 at Palmerston. Game time is 8 p.m.
