Minto 81’s rally to topple Creemore in Game 4

PALMERSTON – The Minto 81’s scored the final five goals of the game as they recorded a 6-1 victory over the Creemore Coyotes in Ontario Elite Hockey League semifinal playoff action Friday night at the Palmerston and District Community Centre Complex.

The win gives the 81’s a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and Minto led 4-1 after the second.

The 81’s actually kept Creemore scoreless after the opening minute of the game. Ben Hughes scored the lone goal for the Coyotes 43 seconds into the match with help from JD Falconer.

Adam Kawalec pulled the 81’s even with a second to go in the first and Jordan Delaurier put Minto ahead for good 5:45 into the second.

Other scorers for Minto, with one goal apiece, were Kyle Heintzler, Klayton Hoelscher, Steven Grant and Cole Pellett. Steven Grant and Blair Butchart each had two assists while Riley Cribbin, Hoelscher, Caleb Warren, Shawn Lantz, Kawalec, Owen Torrie and Robert Grant each had one.

The teams are to meet in Game 5 Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Creemore and District Recreation Centre.

If Creemore wins Saturday night, Game 6 is to go Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Palmerston.
