Windsor led 4-3 at the end of the first period while the Mohawks were up 7-6 at the end of the second.

Jabe Verbeek struck for a hat trick for the Mohawks while Keegan Detweiler, Brinley Wilson and Connor Willmets scored twice apiece and Terrance Barrina added the other goal. Brinley Wilson assisted on five of the goals while JJ Lavigne, Owen Moore, Jabe Verbeek, Detweiler and Willmets each had two assists. Tobias Wilson, Ryan McDougall and Trae Verbeek picked up single assists.

Max Frattaroli and Grady Holmes collected two goals apiece for Windsor while single markers were netted by Niko Spewock, Seth Martineau and Mitch Crosato. Callum Brennan had three assists while Jack Bulmer and Mason Myers-Whiteye had two each and Spewock and Connor McManus had one each.

Elora outshot Windsor 48-41 and went 1-for-7 on its power play while the Clippers were scoreless on two power plays.

While the Mohawks had already clinched a second-place finish in the Western Conference, Windsor can finish anywhere from third to fifth in the conference standings although the game completed its regular season. The Clippers can be passed by the St. Catharines Athletics and they can finish in a tie with the Guelph Regals who would win the tie-breaker.

Six Nations Rebels (20-0-0), the Mohawks (17-3-0) and Windsor (14-6-0) occupy the top three spots in the conference and all have finished their regular seasons. They’re followed by St. Catharines (13-4-1), Guelph (13-6-0), Hamilton Bengals (9-9-1), Owen Sound North Stars (9-10-0) and Cambridge Highlanders (8-11-0) as the other playoff contenders. All but St. Catharines and Guelph are to wrap up their regular seasons Sunday.

The Athletics, who are to host Owen Sound Sunday at 5 p.m., are to finish their regular season Monday with an 8 p.m. game against the Regals at Guelph’s Victoria Road arena.

The playoffs are to begin next week.
