Mohawks, Regals open preseason in Elora tournament

The host Elora Mohawks won every time they hit the floor at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre Saturday as they claimed three wins in their annual preseason junior B lacrosse tournament.

The Mohawks edged the Guelph Regals 6-5, dropped the Windsor Clippers 9-4 and edged the Orangeville Northmen 8-7.

Orangeville downed Windsor 14-2 and defeated the Regals 7-4.

The Regals clouted Windsor 8-3.

The tournament play was the first of the season for both the Mohawks and Regals who’ve had a few preseason runs.

It was also the final preseason play for the Mohawks who are to open their regular season with a pair of home games on back-to-back nights as they’re to host the London Blue Devils April 20 at 7 p.m. and the Cambridge Highlanders April 21 at 7 p.m.

The Regals have another preseason match as they’re to host the Clarington Green Gaels April 14 at 3 p.m. at the Victoria Road arena. The Regals are to open their regular season there April 21 at 3 p.m. against the Wallaceburg Red Devils.

Brinley Wilson and Jabe Verbeek scored twice each for the Mohawks in the win over Guelph. Jordan Mueller and Owen Moore added single goals.

Trey Weinstein had a hat trick for the Regals while Darcy Rybinski and Marcus Visentin scored once each.

 

Elora Mohawks 9 Windsor Clippers 4

Aidan McDougall hit for a hat trick for the Mohawks while Tobias Wilson tallied twice and single goals were added by JJ Lavigne, Evan McDougall, Ryan McDougall and Carter Coffey.

Quinn Brennan had two goals for Windsor and Logan Gough and Keegan Bernier had one apiece.

 

Elora Mohawks 8 Orangeville Northmen 7

Cole Hunsberger and Brinley Wilson connected for two goals apiece for the Mohawks while single goals were added by Owen Moore, Nathan Renaud, Brinley Wilson and JJ Lavigne.

Guerin Jennings had a hat trick for the Northmen while Marcellio Carreiro added a pair of goals while Cade Cordingley and Vincent Onforio had single goals.

 

Orangeville Northmen 14 Windsor Clippers 2

Jack Fitzpatrick led the Northmen with a hat trick while Guerin Jennings, Marcellio Carreiro and Vincent Onforio rifled in two goals apiece. Single goals were added by Dylan Cordingley, Cade Cordingley, Jackson Shabot, Colin Thompson and Trevor Noble.

Mason Myers-Whiteye and Vance Dalpe scored for the Clippers.

 

Orangeville Northmen 7 Guelph Regals 4

Preston Gear tallied twice for the Northmen while Connor Leskey, Owen Farnell, Jackson Shabot, Cade Cordingley and Guerin Jenningshad one apiece.

Netting single goals for the Regals were Graeme Crowder, Eric Chilton, Trey Weinstein and Ephraim Mouradian.

 

Guelph Regals 8 Windsor Clippers 3

Sam Savery and Matt Ford scored twice apiece for the Regals while Darcy Rybinski, Kyle Beecraft, Graeme Crowder and Dylan Davey fired home a goal apiece.

Vance Dalpe had two goals for Windsor while Gage Soulliere added the other one.
