Mount Forest Patriots nipped by Hanover Barons

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots yielded a single goal in each period as they were edged 3-2 by the Hanover Barons in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period before Hanover collected the lone goal of the second.

Matt McLellan and Brody Leblanc scored for Mount Forest while Will Lewis assisted on both goals. Leblanc and Aaron McGuirk each had one assist.

Curtis Arnold had a pair of goals for Hanover while Aaron Dukeshire scored the other one. Single assists went to Drayton Howell, Kyle Maloney and Jacob Duggan.

Hanover outshot the Patriots 45-24 and neither team netted a power-play goal, the Patriots getting four power plays and Hanover getting three.

Marshall Nicholls had 42 saves for Mount Forest and Lander Hartley had 22 for Hanover.
