Mount Forest rallies for win over Hanover in overtime
Brody Leblanc’s goal in overtime lifted the Mount Forest Patriots to a 4-3 victory over the Hanover Barons in Provincial Junior Hockey League playoff action Wednesday at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
The win by the Patriots squared the best-of-seven Pollock Division final at two wins apiece.
The winning goal was Leblanc’s second tally of the game. Jaxon Gawel and Austin Griffin each netted a single goal while Matt McLellan had three assists, Seth Huygen had two and Will Lewis and Aaron McGuirk each had one.
Alex McGillivray, Drayton Howell and Ryan Colquhoun each had a single goal for Hanover while Patrick Brown and Joey Stimac collected two assists apiece and Eliott McCarey had one assist.
The winning goal gave the Patriots a 41-40 edge in shots. The teams took six shots apiece in 14:47 of overtime play.
Mount Forest’s Marshall Nicholls and Hanover’s Derek Hartley each had 37 saves.
The Patriots went 1-for-6 on their power play while the Barons went 2-for-4.
Game 5 is to go Friday at 8 p.m. at Hanover’s P and H Centre.
