North Toronto Nitros slip by Guelph Union

NORTH YORK – Guelph Union surrendered the lone goal of the game in the 29th minute as they were edged 1-0 by the North Toronto Nitros in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Saturday at Downsview Park.

Serita Thurton scored the goal for North Toronto on the only shot to find the meshing behind Union goalkeeper Libby Brenneman.

Arden LaRose had the clean sheet for the Nitros.

The setback keeps Union winless in its last four matches with three losses and a tie in that stretch.

North Toronto is third in the league at 7-1-1 while Union (3-6-1) is tied for 14th with Burlington SC (3-5-1) and St. Catharines Roma (3-7-1).

Union is to host St. Catharines Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Centennial Bowl.
