Orangeville puts end to winning streak by Fergus Thistles

The Fergus Thistles saw their five-game winning streak in the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League when they were edged 12-10 by the Orangeville Northmen Friday at Orangeville’s Tony Rose arena.

Fergus led 4-3 at the end of the first period, but trailed 11-6 after the second.

Curtis Dietrich, Aiden McDougall and Tye Sanderson had two goals apiece for Fergus while single goals were added by Kaiden Patterson, Hayden Sabourin, Jared Bettonvil and Jordan Muelerr. Dietrich had four assists while McDougall and Kody Brown had three each, Bettovil and Mueller had two apiece and Ewan Mackie, Brodie Rice, Cooper Fleet and Sanderson had one each.

Jack Fitzpatrick had four goals for Orangeville while Josh Presley had two goals and five assists. Logan Marshall also scored twice while single goals were added by Daniel Dorval, Cameron McClintock, Luke Downard and Holton Marshall.

The Northmen outshot the Thistles 53-49 and had a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal. Fergus had five power-play goals.

Sam Krauter had 11 saves for Fergus in half the game while Ethan Bratton had 30 in the other half.
