Outlaws rally for second consecutive win in OEHL

PORT ELGIN – The Erin Outlaws made it two wins in as many Ontario Elite Hockey League outings as they rebounded from a four-goal deficit at the end of the second period for a 6-5 victory over the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks Friday night at the Port Elgin arena.

Saugeen Shores led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 5-1 after the second.

Erin fought back to tie it with 5:41 to go in the third and they won it on a shorthanded goal by Joey Warywoda with 53 seconds to go.

Jacob Coulson led the Outlaws with two goals and two assists while Warywoda, Sean Caruso, Brad Holman and Luke Miehm added a goal apiece. Chris Lachance had two assists while single assists were awarded to Stuart Barber, Jacob Miller, Cameron Kokelj and Warywoda.

Justin Marlowe scored twice for Saugeen Shores while James McHaig, Lauchlin Elder and Mike Fiegehen scored once each. Single assists went to Justin Donnelly, McHaig, Andy Fracz, Dan Zweep, Curtis Johnston, Josh Hopkin, Miles MacLean and Trent Hawke.

The Winterhawks outshot the Outlaws 44-33 and were scoreless on a single power play while the Outlaws went 2-for-5 on their power play.

Eric Peicheff had 27 saves for Saugeen Shores while Erin’s goaltender wasn’t reported.

Saugeen Shores falls to 2-1-0-0 with the loss.

The Outlaws are to host the Seaforth Centenaires (1-0-0-0) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Erin’s Centre 2000 arena.
