Patriots score six in second, clobber Kincardine

KINCARDINE – The Mount Forest Patriots erupted for six goals in the second period as they clobbered the Kincardine Bulldogs 9-1 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday at Kincardine’s Davidson Centre.

The Patriots led 2-0 at the end of the first period and 8-1 after the second.

Owen Tovell led Mount Forest with a hat trick while Keegan Detweiler tallied twice. Reid Caswell, Connor Paige, Brody Leblanc and Jordan Leitch added single goals while Leblanc had three assists, Paige, Austin Griffin, Charlie Mckenzie and Leitch each had two and Jared Rowe, Aaron McGuirk, Matthew Weiler, Jaxon Gawel and Detweiler each had one assist.

Nolan MacKinnon scored for Kincardine with Kyle Dolmage set up the goal.

The Patriots outshot the Bulldogs 40-31, went 1-for-2 on their power play and kept Kincardine scoreless on three power plays.

The result leaves the Patriots second in the Pollock Division at 14-4-1-0 and Kincardine third at 10-4-1-4.

The Patriots are to host the division-leading Hanover Barons (14-0-0-2) Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.
