
Patriots to face Wingham in divisional semifinals
MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots are to play the Wingham Ironmen in the PJHL’s Pollock Division semifinals.
A schedule for the best-of-seven series has not been announced.
While the Patriots had a bye in the best-of-seven divisional quarter-finals due to finishing first in the division, the fourth-place Ironmen defeated the fifth-place Kincardine Bulldogs 4-1 with a 4-3 victory in overtime at Wingham’s North Huron Wescast Community Centre Friday night. Every game in the series was decided by a single goal and two of them went into overtime.
Mount Forest finished the regular season at 32-9-0-1 while Wingham was at 26-13-2-1.
The Patriots won the six-game regular-season series with the Ironmen with five victories, one in overtime.
The Ironmen won 5-1 at home Feb. 1 in the sixth game of the series.
At the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, the Patriots won 7-3 Oct. 15, 3-2 in overtime Nov. 19 and 4-2 Dec. 17. They also won twice at Wingham — 5-3 Sept. 23 and 7-4 Jan. 13.
Hanover Barons and Mitchell Hawks are to meet in the other divisional semifinal as both swept their divisional quarter-finals, Hanover ousting the Walkerton Capitals and Mitchell eliminating the Goderich Flyers.
