Raiders, Royals to meet in senior boys’ soccer final

HILLSBURGH – The Erin Raiders and Centre Dufferin Royals gained berths in Thursday’s District 4 high school senior boys’ soccer final by recording semifinal victories Monday.

The Raiders defeated the Westside Thunder 3-1 at Barbour Field while the Royals doubled the Norwell Varsity Reds 4-2 on the Centre Dufferin field.

Erin and Centre Dufferin had finished tied for first place with 5-2-1 records while Norwell was third at 4-4-0 and Westside was fourth at 2-4-2.

Erin was awarded first thanks to their 3-0 victory over the Royals in Erin Oct. 2. Centre Dufferin edged the Raiders 2-1 in Shelburne last week, but Erin’s three-goal victory gave them the tiebreaker.

Thursday’s final is to be played on the Erin Public School field. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
