Regals fall to Six Nations in Game 3 of conference semifinal

HAGERSVILLE – The Guelph Regals were held to a single even-strength goal as they were doubled 8-4 by the Six Nations Rebels in Game 3 of their best-of-five Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Western Conference semifinal series Friday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

The Regals struck for three power-play goals in the match, but a string of three consecutive goals by Six Nations that started in the opening period and ended early in the second put the Rebels ahead for good.

The win gives Six Nations a 2-1 lead in the series.

The Rebels led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 5-3 after the second.

Dylan Goddard, Charlie Boon, Owen Orpana and Marcus Keleher had a goal apiece for the Regals while Goddard, Boon and Keleher also had two assists apiece. Single assists went to Parker Lock and Dallon Evans.

Anahilis Doxtador was involved in all eight goals for Six Nations as he scored six of them and assisted on the others that were scored by Winter Rivera and Macay Jimerson. Hodo (Eric) Martin, Jimerson and Damon Doxtatar each had two assists while Rivera and Damonie Thomas had one each.

Shots on net were not reported.

Ty Fox-Trudel was in goal for the Regals while the Rebels had Wesler Carew in net.

The Rebels had one power-play goal and one shorthanded marker.

The Regals had 16 power-play opportunities in the game as the Rebels took 50 minutes in penalties while Six Nations had nine power plays thanks to 20 minutes in penalties for the Guelph side.

Fourth game of the series is slated for Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Victoria Road arena.

If the Regals win that game, the fifth and deciding game is to go Monday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena starting at 8 p.m.

Winner of the series is to face the St. Catharines Athletics in the conference final.
