Ross, Centre Wellington rugby girls grab second wins of week

The Ross Royals and Centre Wellington Falcons both scored their second wins of the week in District 4/10 high school girls’ rugby play, both also scoring 29 points in their Thursday victories.

Ross defeated the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 29-5 while Centre Wellington downed the Orangeville Bears 29-14.

In another game Thursday, the Erin Raiders handed the Bishop Macdonell Celtics a 39-27 setback in the season openers for both teams.

Ross had five tries in the win while GCVI scored one.

Centre Wellington 29 Orangeville 14

Violet Toner and Lauren Mullin each collected 10 points for the Falcons while Bree Macleod had five and Ella Ladner and Avery Black had two apiece.

Ella Curzon and Haidee Maraiko each had five for Orangeville while Abbey Spiteri added four.

 

Erin 39 Bishop Macdonell 27

Ireland Murphy and Laura Williams led Erin with 10 points apiece.

Mckenna Petti had a game high 15 points for Bishop Mac.

 

Senior Boys’ Rugby

Centre Wellington 20 Centre Dufferin 14

Centre Wellington had four tries in the Wednesday win while GCVI scored two.

Individual scoring details were not reported.

 

Lourdes 38 Centennial 0

Brendan Boys struck for three of the six tries scored by Lourdes while Tyler Azzopardi, Taylor Bothwell and Mac McKenzie each had one try.
