Ross Royals romp to sweep in boys’ rugby finals

The Ross Royals swept the Guelph CVI Green Gaels in both games of the District 4/10 high school boys’ rugby championship doubleheader at Victoria Park in Fergus Thursday.

Ross won the senior boys’ final 40-12 after the Royals took the junior boys’ final 47-7.

Ross scored six tries in the senior final. Isaac Misener scored four of the tries while Charlie Thurtell had one try and five converts while Ely Sutton scored the other try.

Malin Hazl had a try and a convert for GC while Ben Chambo also scored a try.

The Royals also scored six tries in the junior final while GC had a single try.

The win by Ross in the senior final was the fourth consecutive league title win for the Royals while Ross reclaimed the junior crown from GC as the Gaels had won it last year. The win by the Royals was their 15th in 18 seasons.
