Royals, Spartans post pair of field hockey wins

GUELPH – The Ross Royals and Centennial Spartans started their District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey seasons with a pair of shutout victories Wednesday at Centennial.

The four Guelph teams in the eight-team league – Bishop Macdonell Celtics and Guelph CVI Green Gaels are the other two – gathered at Centennial for their first play of the season.

The four non-Guelph teams (Centre Wellington Falcons, defending champion Orangeville Bears, Centre Dufferin Royals and Wellington Heights Wolverines) started their seasons late last week in Mount Forest.

All eight games played so far this season have ended in shutouts while three of the four games played in Mount Forest were scoreless stalemates.

Clara Stanley scored in the second half for Centennial while Hannie Kim had the shutout.

Annabelle Docksteader scored in the first half for Ross.

Annabelle Docksteader had the lone goal while the shutout was shared by Ella Parisotto and Jade Ayles.

 

Centennial 2 Guelph CVI 0

Clara Stanley and Tristan Helps had a goal apiece for Centennial.
