Seaforth downs Minto 81’s to extend series
SEAFORTH – The Seaforth Centenaires prevented the Minto 81’s from sweeping their best-of-seven Ontario Elite Hockey League quarter-final playoff series by scoring a 5-2 win at the Seaforth and District Community Centre Sunday.
Minto leads the series 3-1.
Seaforth scored the lone goal of the first period before outscoring the 81’s 2-1 in each of the final two periods.
Klayton Hoelscher and Cole Pellett had a goal apiece for the 81’s while Blair Butchart had an assist.
Mike Siddall had two goals for Seaforth, both in the final 1:14 of the game, while Kyle Stanbury, Parker Gibbings and Malcolm McLeod collected single goals. Carter Collinson, Gibbings and Reuben Smith each had one assist.
The 81’s outshot Seaforth 33-21 and the Centenaires scored a power-play goal and two shorthanded goals.
Mark Williams had 16 saves for Minto and Tyler Parr had 31 for Seaforth.
