Second-period outburst leads Shamrocks to victory

PARIS – The Hespeler Shamrocks struck for four goals in the second period as they downed the Paris Titans 5-3 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Brant Sports Complex.

The second-period scoring turned a 2-1 deficit at the end of the first period into a 5-2 lead by the end of the second.

Jack Restauri had a hat trick for Hespeler while Andrew Harris and Liam Nelson each had a goal and an assist. Boden White had four assists while Braeden Tyler and Justin George had one apiece.

James Patterson, Josiah Albrecht and Thomas Lonsdale scored once each for Paris while assists went to Christian Campanelli, Patterson, Tyler Crisostomo, Lonsdale and Spencer Edwards.

The Shamrocks outshot the Titans 41-27 and went 2-for-6 on their power play while Paris went 1-for-6.

David Hanley had 24 saves for Hespeler while Ryan Burroughs had 36 for Paris.

The Shamrocks are fourth in the Doherty Division at 8-11-0-0. Woodstock Navy Vets lead at 19-2-1-0 while New Hamburg Firebirds are second at 15-6-1-0 and Tavistock Braves are third at 12-6-0-2. Wellesley Applejacks (7-11-1-0) and Norwich Merchants (5-10-4-1) are tied for fifth while Paris (4-16-1-1) is seventh.

The Shamrocks are to host Norwich Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
