Shamrocks topple Titans to halt their losing streak

CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks put an end to their 11-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the Paris Titans in Provincial Junior Hockey League Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The win was the first for the Shamrocks since they defeated the Titans by the same score at the Brant Sports Complex in Paris Dec. 2.

Three goals in the second period for the Shamrocks proved to be the difference. The teams scored a goal apiece in both the first and third periods while Hespeler outscored Paris 3-1 in the second.

Boden White had a hat trick for the Shamrocks while Michael Boyle-Ricupero and Jacob Roach scored the other goals while Andrew Harris assisted on three goals Boyle-Ricupero, Braeden Tyler, Derek Taylor, Kaiden Gignac, Jack Restauri and Justin George each had one assist.

Thomas Lonsdale scored twice for Paris while Tyler Crisostomo scored the other one. Owen Switzer had two assists while Christian Campanelli and Owen Lalonde had one each.

Paris outshot Hespeler 17-9 in the first period and 47-44 overall. The Shamrocks went 1-for-8 on their power play while the Titans went 1-for-5.

Lucas Hillert had 44 saves for the Shamrocks while Ryan Burroughs had 39 for Paris.
