Silvercreeks come back to top Hamilton in home opener

The Guelph Silvercreeks waited until the seventh inning to get their offence going, then pulled away to down the Hamilton Junior Cardinals 14-4 in their Inter-County 22U baseball home opener Wednesday at Hastings Stadium.

Hamilton scored two runs in each of the first two innings and held the locals scoreless until the Creeks collected single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Creeks then connected for six runs in the seventh and six more in the eighth to complete the scoring.

The Creeks finished with 11 hits, but committed four errors and left five runners stranded. Hamilton had six hits, two errors and left six on.

Eric Blamauer had three hits, a run and two RBIs for Guelph while Aiden Edmunds had two hits, a run and two RBIs. Ryan Cutten, Jackson Groves, Nicholas Killingbeck and Quinn Gammage each had one hit while Cutten, Killingbeck and Gammage scored two runs apiece. Cutten, Groves and Gammage each drove in two runs while Groves scored a run and Killingbeck was hit by a pitch.

Logan Miziolek pitched three innings and had five strikeouts while Aiden Mendonza had four strikeouts in two innings and he picked up the win. Neither yielded an earned run.
